Minimalist Geometry in Formed Steel
Horizon is an architectural commercial bench designed by Stéphane Chapelet.
Its design is based on the controlled bending and assembly of substantial steel plates, creating a clean, monolithic profile without unnecessary decorative elements.
The result is a robust seating solution that complements modern streetscapes, institutional projects, cultural environments, and contemporary public spaces.
Construction
The published steel version is manufactured from thick formed steel elements joined to create the seating body.
Internal support plates reinforce the structure while preserving the bench’s minimal exterior appearance.
The backrest version uses coordinated steel construction and is separated from the seat by stainless-steel spacers, creating a precise visual gap between the two surfaces.

Specification Text
Provide LAB23 Horizon commercial bench designed by Stéphane Chapelet. Bench shall be manufactured from formed and continuously welded steel plates with integral structural supports and optional steel backrest. Provide approved protective treatment, powder-coated or Corten finish, stainless-steel spacers where applicable, and base fixing provisions in accordance with approved shop drawings.

Horizon without backrest
The bench HORIZON is made in steel (60/10 thickness). The bench is made of 2 bent steel sheets, welded together through a continuous welding. Under these sheets, 3 solid plates of support (H 30 mm) are welded. The base of the metal structure has 4 holes (14 mm diam.) to be fixed to the ground through specific bolts (not provided).
Weight of steel: 101 Kg
Horizon withbackrest
The bench HORIZON WITH BACKREST is made in steel (60/10 thickness). The bench is made of 2 bent steel sheets, welded together through a continuous welding. Under these sheets, 3 solid plates of support (H 30 mm) are welded. The backrest is fixed to the seat through 4 M8 screws and is made in steel (60/10 thickness). Between the seat and the backrest there’s a space of 20 mm, result of specific spacers made in brushed tubular stainless steel AISI 316 12×2 mm. The base of the metal structure has 4 holes (14 mm diam.) to be fixed to the ground through specific bolts (not provided).
Weight of steel: 183 kg
This product is entirely made in Italy from steel subjected to an electrolytic galvanising cycle and subsequently painted with PP powders with Ral colour of your choice.
As an alternative to steel EN10111DD11, the production in corten is also available, on demand. In this case the material is treated with a specific oxidation process.
